Zelensky Gives Melania Trump Ukraine's Highest Award After Oleshky Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has presented Melania Trump with Ukraine's highest award, in a ceremony reported by BBC News after a ceasefire around Oleshky. The presentation is a striking diplomatic gesture at a moment when Ukraine is seeking to keep American support firm, and it puts a high-profile American figure at the center of Kyiv's public diplomacy. Awards of this kind are reserved for exceptional service to Ukraine, so the choice of recipient carries symbolic weight well beyond the ceremony itself. The timing, tied to a pause in fighting near Oleshky, underlines how Kyiv uses formal honors to reinforce alliances and draw international attention to the war's human cost.
