Judge blocks construction of Trump's arch within an hour of its final approval

A federal judge has blocked construction of President Donald Trump's planned triumphal arch in Washington, DC, for 14 days, ruling within an hour of the National Capital Planning Commission approving the project 8–4 after more than eight hours of public testimony. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing a lawsuit against the project, cited potential economic impacts and traffic delays, undercutting the administration's plan to begin construction immediately. Opponents have denounced the arch as a vanity project and argue it is illegal because it lacks approval from Congress, while Trump wants it completed before he leaves office in two years. The White House promoted a new arch website on Friday through the U.S. Triumphal Arch Foundation.
